Class Description |
This is a 4 — 6 hour online course provided by the USCCA and is approved by Texas DPS. The course will be accessed via the USCCA eLearning portal. This course will fulfill the required classroom training. You will be able to complete this course at your own pace. The class date you choose is for the range qualification portion. eLearning MUST be completed prior to this date.
This course is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women. Pregnant or nursing women should not participate in any range activities (indoors or outdoors). Lead in a mother’s blood stream can affect the child during pregnancy or nursing. Noise exposure to the child is also of concern. During this critical time in your child’s life: dry firing, air guns and other methods of training are strongly recommended as safer alternatives. Upon completion of the online eLearning, you will be EMailed a Texas form LTC-104. Be sure to forward the LTC-104 to don at ltc-netx dot com prior to heading to the range qualification. Your eLearning MUST be completed prior to attending the range qualification. Prior to the range qualification, you will be given one hour classroom instruction of the safe handling of firearms and shooting fundamentals. For the range qualification, you will need to have EMailed the Texas form LTC-104, one handgun, fifty (50) rounds of ammunition (additional ammunition if you don’t qualify on the first attempt). Qualification is done on a standard size B-27 target. A passing score is 175 out of a possible 250 (70%). Scoring is done using the 5-4-3 scoring as indicated on most B-27 targets. Twenty (20) rounds will be fired from three (3) yards, twenty (20) rounds from seven (7) yards, and ten (10) rounds from fifteen (15) yards. Upon completion of the qualification, the Texas form LTC-104 will be updated to include the safety course and proficiency sections filled in by your instructor (completing the requirements to apply for your Texas LTC). |
